Does Anyone Own the AE Cage Company Flight Bird Cage?

It seems like a really good size for a budgie, and it says that it weighs 47 pounds. However, I was wondering if anyone knew how much it weighed without the stand. I will add a picture of it in the answers.

AE Flight Cage Overview

Yes, I do have an AE flight cage. However, I do not know how much it weighs without the stand. The package my cage arrived in said it weighed about 50 pounds, so I assume we are talking about the same cage. It is perfect for budgies, and I have two of them in it. I have also housed cockatiels and a green cheek conure in it, though not at the same time, of course. My budgies are very happy in there.

Bar Space Measurement and Safety

One important thing to consider is the bar space measurement. A crucial detail for your budgie's safety is the spacing between the bars of the cage. If the bars are too wide, the budgie can try to climb out and get its head stuck between the bars, leading to asphyxiation. This has been the cause of many tragic parakeet deaths.

Unfortunately, the AE Cage Company's online descriptions do not include this essential measurement. Companies that sell AE products may not be eager to provide this information, so it's best to contact the AE Cage Company directly at 800-631-7387 to ask about the bar space width.

For a parakeet, the bar spacing should never exceed half an inch. A quarter of an inch is ideal. My giant macaw, the 4th largest parrot in the world with a wingspan of 3 feet, has bars spaced one inch apart, even though he is significantly larger than a parakeet.

Conclusion

Ensure the bar spacing of your AE flight bird cage is appropriate for your budgie's safety. Contact the AE Cage Company to get the necessary details.
