How My Experience of the Online Quora World Meetup 2020 Exceeded My Expectations

On August 12th, 2020, at 10 AM IST, I attended the Quora Virtual Meetup, an experience that surpassed all my expectations and turned out to be an incredible day of introspection, connection, and knowledge sharing. As a devoted Quora user, I was thrilled to connect with fellow enthusiasts, share insights, and learn from one another. My experience was truly marvellous, and I felt deeply honored to be invited as a speaker alongside distinguished individuals such as Gopalkrishna Vishwanath and Samantha Kannan.

Feeling Honored and Valued

As a speaker alongside notable figures, I felt a profound sense of honor. Quora recognized the value of my contributions, which added significantly to my satisfaction and motivation levels. One of the most basic human needs is to be understood and honored. Writing on Quora serves as a means for me to seek fulfillment, joy, and personal growth. When Quora acknowledges the significance of my contributions, it greatly enhances my overall satisfaction and motivation.

Encountering Jonathan Brill

Meeting Jonathan Brill in person was a surreal experience. Despite prior correspondence via email, the opportunity to be in the same breakout room with him was incredibly rewarding. Jonathan is a part of Quora's writer relations team, and his dedication to assisting writers has always been a beacon of hope for many. His actions have always allayed my expectations, making his presence at the Meetup particularly meaningful.

A Well-Organized Global Confluence

The stunning turnout at the Quora Virtual Meetup was heartwarming. With approximately 60 participants from various geographies, it was a well-organized and engaging event. Special kudos to Mrinal Bhattacharya and the Quora team for their meticulous organization. Mrinal’s role as a moderator was impeccable; he kept the sessions on track, communicated clearly, and ensured that everyone felt heard. Additionally, his thorough knowledge of my profile led to an insightful introduction that truly exemplified the Meetup’s spirit.

Becoming Friends with Gopalkrishna Vishwanath

Following the Meetup, I had the privilege of befriending GV Uncle, whom I had previously spoken to several times. Our conversation during a video call felt like we were old acquaintances, highlighting the personal connection we share. This experience underscored the importance of fostering meaningful relationships within the Quora community.

Pro-Tip for Content Creation

During the session, I shared a valuable tip for aspiring content creators: write passionately about topics that resonate with your interests, rather than what is trendy. Early in my Quora journey, I focused on parenting, a topic that may seem unconventional for a young woman, but it allowed me to share my genuine views. My parenting answers garnered substantial attention, leading to recognition from top companies like Microsoft, Google, Flipkart, and LinkedIn. This experience has spurred me to continue making a meaningful impact, regardless of the topic.

A Personal Connection to Quora

My journey with Quora began in India, where a dearth of role models, especially for women, often leads to limited career opportunities. However, Quora provided a platform for me to showcase my expertise and become a source of inspiration to many. If I had merely contributed to popular but generic topics, I wouldn’t have had the opportunity to display my true strengths. This is a testament to the power of writing what you truly believe in.
