Belief in the Afterlife: A Test of Understanding and Faith
Belief in the Afterlife: A Test of Understanding and Faith
Nothing else happens after death, right? This question has puzzled humanity for centuries, as we grapple with the mysteries of life and the unknown. The process of decomposition is well-documented, yet the concept of what happens to us post-life remains shrouded in mystery. The question, 'unless there is an afterlife, who will ever know what happens to us when we are dead,' touches on one of the most profound aspects of human existence.
The Temporary Stage and the Question of God
On Earth, while we are in a temporary primary stage, we are often tasked with obeying divine commandments and performing good deeds. Yet, many of us struggle with fundamental questions, such as 'who is God' and 'what is afterlife.' We must ponder these questions without the direct experience that would help us understand.
The Role of Miracles and Conscience
The miracles we witness around us should serve as a reminder of the presence of a higher power. In Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, numerous verses emphasize the testing of faith and the existence of an afterlife. Scientists and scholars who deny the existence of God might argue for atheism based on a lack of immediate proof, but those who observe the wonders of the world and act according to their conscience may find this a call to belief.
The Testing of Faith
Our belief in God and the afterlife, as well as our good deeds, determine our fate. But why does God make this a difficult test? It is not our place to advise God on how to conduct these tests, as the students are not supposed to dictate to the teacher. The questions and answers of the test are designed to create doubt and present different choices and decisions.
Understanding the Test
The test is not reliant on one's level of education. A child who says, 'I do not see the plane anymore—it's going far away, it's still there but my sight does not reach it; God must be there, but my sight does not reach Him,' is not necessarily wrong. On the other hand, a scientist who concludes, 'I do not see God, so He does not exist,' might be missing a deeper understanding. Similarly, faith is not a prerequisite, and those who have never heard of religious teachings can still pass the test based on their natural gifts of intelligence and conscience.
The Evaluation of Belief
God does not predetermine plans for us; He has delegated this task to us. Our fate is determined by our actions, and the fair and wise God evaluates us based on what we have been provided. Someone who has never heard of the prophets might have an easier test based on the gifts of intelligence and conscience. Good works will be rewarded, and if they are not wicked, they may not be punished.
The Message of Prophets
The core message of all prophets is simple: blessings for obedience and curses for disobedience. Prophets taught that by obeying divine commandments, repenting, and performing good deeds to help others, one can earn salvation. The obedient believer is blessed both in life and in the afterlife. This truth should set us free from doubt and fear.
For those who have doubts, they are encouraged to ask God. All prophets have urged us to seek divine guidance and taught that God will answer those who ask. Regardless of the methods, God has created us and knows how to convey His message to us.
