Building Trust in an Uncertain World
Building Trust in an Uncertain World
There are more than 7 billion people on Earth. In my 74 years, not more than a dozen might have cheated. I have already made up my loss, but the lesson remains. Cheats might have given me a shock, but the effect was temporary. I still trust people and people trust me. You haven't lost trust completely. You still have hope. That is why you asked the question.
A Breach of Trust
Hi Pinki, just do your work… until you find someone trustworthy enough to hold your pieces together. The sole reason for a breach of trust is a backstabbing. It doesn’t come from an unknown person; it is always done by someone who’s close enough to hold some info about you. It means he/she is known.
I've known a lot of people busy digging pits for others to fall. What I want you to know is that digging another one for people won’t let them rewind the situation in life. If it’s done with a motive to cause a return to the past, it doesn’t work that way if they have brains. No one can and will ever return to the past, even if you try and paint their future black. Remember this and don’t travel the wrong way.
You can only beautify their future with a lot of love and be determined to stand the test of situations with them and for them. That too, only with physical presence. If you think even this can be achieved online, it would be another disaster.
I know people who were busy wiping smiles on others' faces only to put up an extra follower dose on theirs. Even if it’s your parents' friends or anyone else, you have to leave them or the curse ruins your life.
Steps to Build Trust Again
Building trust is a gradual process that requires patience, understanding, and sometimes, a little bit of faith.
Stay in One Place
One of the first steps to building trust is to stay in one place. Consistency breeds trust. When you are loyal to a place, people start to believe in your sincerity.
Ground Yourself in a Routine
Another essential element is to ground yourself in a routine. This doesn’t mean you become rigid and inflexible, but it does mean building a consistent pattern of behavior that people can rely on.
Give a Little and See What You Get
Give a little bit of yourself and observe the response. Trust isn’t built overnight but through actions and reactions over time.
Make Plans for the Future
Making plans for the future demonstrates that you have a purpose and a vision. When you have something to look forward to, it encourages trust both ways.
Trust An Animal
Many people find it easier to trust animals than humans. This can be a helpful starting point to rebuild trust in others. Animals can be honest and loyal, offering a refreshing perspective.
Stop Painting Red Flags Green
It’s important to recognize and acknowledge red flags rather than ignoring them. Pretending they don’t exist only deepens the mistrust.
Grow the Belief That You Deserve to Be Around Trustworthy People
The fear of trusting others, known as pistanthrophobia, can be overwhelming. It’s often the result of experiencing a serious disappointment or painful ending to a prior relationship. However, growing the belief that you deserve to be around trustworthy people is key to overcoming this fear.
Professional Help
According to Dana McNeil, a licensed marriage and family therapist, "Pistanthrophobia is the fear of trusting others and is often the result of experiencing a serious disappointment or painful ending to a prior relationship." He/she also suggests that its presence can cement relationships by allowing people to live and work together, feel safe, and belong to a group. Trust in a leader allows organizations and communities to flourish while the absence of trust can cause fragmentation, conflict, and even warfare.
Remember, rebuilding trust is a journey. Don’t rush it, and always be honest and transparent. Your efforts will eventually be rewarded.
