Choosing the Right Flying School for Your Commercial Pilot License (CPL) Training

Yes, you can pursue your Commercial Pilot License (CPL) training from Alchemist Aviation, which is DGCA (Directorate General of Civil Aviation) approved and located in Jamshedpur. This means that the training provided in this institution meets the necessary regulatory requirements set by the Indian aviation authority. However, the choice of flying school is crucial when it comes to job opportunities. Here are some factors to consider.

Reputation and Industry Connections

Established flying schools often have better industry connections and can facilitate job placements. A school with a good reputation can enhance your resume, making you more attractive to potential employers. In fact, a study[1] found that alumni from reputable schools had a higher success rate in securing job placements after graduation.

Quality of Training and Aircraft

The quality of instruction, aircraft, and facilities can vary significantly between schools. Training at a well-regarded institution may provide you with a stronger foundation and better preparation for real-world flying. For example, the consistent use of advanced or widely recognized aircraft can be beneficial, as some airlines prefer candidates with experience on certain types of planes. It's crucial to ensure that the school has a robust training program that meets industry standards.

Alumni Success Stories

Schools with a successful track record of placing graduates in airlines can be advantageous. Researching alumni experiences can give you insights into potential job opportunities and network contacts. A research study highlighted how the placement rate of alumni from a reputable flying school was much higher, which can significantly influence your career prospects.

Personal Initiative and Additional Experience

Your own initiative in gaining additional experience, building your network, and enhancing your resume will also play a significant role in your job search. Networking, gaining real-world experience, and staying up-to-date with industry trends can all increase your chances of landing a good job. It’s essential to be proactive in your job search and to continuously improve your skills.

Reviewing Alchemist Aviation: A Personal Perspective

I am Vivek, and my cousin brother recently joined Alchemist Aviation, a DGCA approved flying school in Jamshedpur. After two months, he has only logged around 10–12 hours of flight time. I would like to urge the management to address these issues to ensure the school's future graduates are not adversely affected.

Pros

The school is located in the middle of a nice city known as Tatanagar. The school has a good fleet of four single-engine aircraft, with proper maintenance.

Cons

No proper food and lodging arrangements for outstation students. The school canteen has poor quality food, and the kitchen is quite unhygienic and dirty. The head manager and admission incharge, commonly known as Pathak Jee, is very unprofessional, often seen eating kheni and gutka. False commitment was made at the time of admission; flying is not done in 6 months, but in reality, it takes 2-3 years on average. Instructors are lethargic and unorganized, focusing more on conversion students due to their revenue-generating potential. A modern culture of drinking and smoking is quite prevalent, setting a wrong example for young students. Visibility is often low at the aerodrome due to nearby factories, limiting good flying time to only 6 months out of 12.

Conclusion

While the choice of flying school can influence your job opportunities, it is important to focus on the overall quality of training, your performance, and leveraging your training in your job search. If you are looking for a reputable and well-established flying school, consider Alchemist Aviation's competitors or schools with better industry connections and a track record of successful placements.
