Emirates Expands its Route Map with New Destinations and Services
The major airline Emirates is continuously expanding its route map and has recently added a further 16 routes to its existing network. These new destinations will join the airline's nine current worldwide and will offer travelers a wider range of options.

Emirates' Global Reach
As of June 2023, Emirates operates to 161 destinations in 85 countries across six continents, with its hub located in Dubai. This expansion showcases the airline's commitment to providing comprehensive travel options for passengers worldwide.
Purpose and Target Audience of New Flights
Given the current travel restrictions, it is unlikely that these new services will be relaunched with tourists as the primary target audience. Instead, Emirates seems to be focusing on facilitating the return of passengers who have faced travel restrictions or cost barriers. By transiting in Dubai, passengers can benefit from the reduced risk of importing the virus.
However, there remains a risk of asymptomatic carriers accidentally infecting ground staff, as seen with Qatar Airways, which was banned from flying to Greece after carrying asymptomatic virus carriers.
Emirates will continue to announce further service resumptions as necessary, pending government approvals and commercial demand.
