Royal Life: Pros, Cons, and Why I’d Say No to the British Royal Family
Would I Marry into the British Royal Family?
I often tell friends that I am married to a retired school teacher, a luxury of being my own person. No early mornings, no formal attire, and no public appearances. My life is a simple and private one, far from the spotlight. If you are referring to the British Royal Family, my answer is a resounding No.
Why the Royal Life Wouldn’t Suit Me
The royal life is a complex tapestry of traditions, protocols, and public scrutiny. Every day would be filled with strict rules and unwritten customs, and constant media attention. While it might seem glamorous, it is also a very public and, most importantly, a highly scrutinized role. Privacy and personal time would be scarce, making it difficult to live the kind of life I value.
Awe in Fantasy vs. Reality
As a history enthusiast, I would be beyond thrilled to have the opportunity to visit the magnificent castles and experience the rich history of the British Royal Family. The chance to have tea with the Queen and meet other royal members would be a dream come true. The idea of wearing a diamond tiara or a dress that costs more than a house or a luxury car is simply unimaginable. The freedom to travel the world to places like where Princess Diana once walked would be a lifelong dream.
The Practicalities of Marriage into the Royal Family
However, when I come back to reality, I must decline such a role. Marrying a younger royal member would be challenging since I cannot have children, and the role of the royal family would not suit me. Princess Diana, while famous for her struggles, managed the role in her own way. Princess Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, is doing exceptionally well in her role. If I were to marry a member of the royal family, it would be most likely an older member like Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, who has had the advantage of time to adjust to and understand the intricacies of the royal life.
Quality Over Glory
Living a simple and private life is more meaningful to me than the glamorous and often stressful life of a royal. I deeply value my privacy, and for me, the perks of the royal life are not worth the sacrifices. I would be willing to learn the ropes and even curtsy if it meant spending time with the Queen, but ultimately, my need for a simple, private life outweighs the allure of the royal life.
Final Reflections
While the prospect of becoming part of the British Royal Family is exciting, the daily responsibilities, public scrutiny, and loss of privacy make it unappealing. Privacy and space are essential for my happiness, and living a simple life filled with cherished friendships and personal freedom is what truly matters to me.
