The Safety and Transformation of New York Citys Subway System
The Safety and Transformation of New York City's Subway System
Welcome to the Brooklyn World! Good morning, Brooklyn. New York City is the safest city in America, and it has grown significantly in technology and population. Before the 2000s, there were about eight million people. However, despite the Great Recession and the COVID-19 years, the city continues to grow horizontally in Brooklyn and Queens, and vertically all over the place. Now there are nine million people, with a total of nineteen million in the NYC boroughs, and the NYC suburbs in Connecticut, New York State, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.
A Safer and Improved Subway System
For many years, the New York City Subway was plagued with issues such as dirt, graffiti, and crime. However, since the 1990s, significant changes and improvements have been made. Downtown Manhattan and other areas have seen significant renovations. For example, the Fulton Mall Station is now a mall with great stores and is connected to the Oculus, which is another great station at the heart of the World Trade Center. Additionally, the Atlantic Terminal in Brooklyn is now a mall connected to the Barclays Center.
Revolutionary Developments Across the City
Across the city, there have been various developments. For example, in Midtown, Penn Station now serves as the New Jersey Terminal for the New Jersey Transit. The new station, named "Patrick Monahan Train Station," has been expanded and redesigned to resemble the original Herald Square, providing a massive and impressive space. Moreover, MADISON SQUARE GARDEN has plans underway to incorporate "The Original Penn Station" under it, which will add more light and new entrances, creating a grander and better experience.
Extensive Enhancements in Times Square and Beyond
Towards Times Square, the extension of the 7-line to the Hudson Yards has created a new city neighborhood and added two new stations. Two major towers in the area are "The Spiral" and "30 Hudson Yards," complete with The Edge, the highest observation deck in the world at 1200 feet. An old freight line that was previously abandoned has been transformed into a park known as "The HighLine," connecting Greenwich Village to the heart of the Hudson Yards. Another significant improvement is Grand Central Terminal, which has been expanded with a new underground station, "Grand Central Madison," providing more accessibility and a grand entrance.
Additionally, there is an increase in new police personnel in the subway stations, reducing graffiti, violence, and hostile attitudes. In the 1990s, people were more rude, but now, subway passengers are as friendly as anywhere else in the city. Performers can often be seen in the stations, making the rides more enjoyable and pleasant for residents and tourists alike.
Modernization and Safety Priorities
New York City has embracing new infrastructure, expanding its casino, restaurant, hotel, and plaza offerings. Safety has become a top priority, with initiatives led by Mayors Rudy Giuliani, Michael Bloomberg, Bill De Blasio, and Eric Adams. With the advent of the World Wide Web, there is now an abundance of news, images, and information about the transformation of New York City, which has been underway since the new millennium.
As Brooklyn World stands by, we encourage everyone to embrace the transformation and enjoy everything that New York City has to offer. Be the difference that you want to see in the world.
